what is required?
A strong research background, along with an interest in continuing to PhD will be seen as strengths. Prospective students are also encouraged to apply to a Tri-Council scholarship (e.g., CIHR, SSHRC or NSERC) or other provincial awards if appropriate (e.g., QEII). A majority of the current Enhance graduate students are currently funded by national, provincial or local awards.
what you can expect:
Students in The Enhance Lab will have the unique opportunity to enhance their clinical and research skills in the area of neurodevelopmental conditions (NDCs). They will have access to key resources in the Owerko Centre for Child Development, the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI), the Mathison Centre, Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI), and the Departments of Pediatrics, Psychology, and Psychiatry at the University of Calgary to support their training and ultimately, their careers as researchers and clinicians. Students will have the opportunity to attend weekly rounds (e.g., Developmental Neurosciences rounds at ACHRI) and local and international symposia/conferences, which will expose them to innovative research in the field. Lastly, through various clinical research studies, students will gain unique clinical skills in assessment and intervention.
