IASP Poster Presentation: Characterizing Pain in Youth with Cerebral Palsy

Congratulations Cara Nania on presenting at the International Association for the Study of Pain World Congress 2024 (IASP) held in Amsterdam!

Around 75% of youth with Cerebral Palsy experience pain, making it the most common secondary condition. Unfortunately, little is known about what dimensions of pain are impacted, or the role mental health has on pain experiences. Additionally, how pain can impact the quality of life and daily functioning of CP youth over time. Cara’s work titled “The Characterization of Pain in Youth with Cerebral Palsy: A Micro-longitudinal Analysis.” examines the associations between pain, mental health, and quality of life, as well as characterizes pain and its impact on everyday functioning in youth with Cerebral Palsy.

By characterizing pain in youth with Cerebral Palsy, Cara’s research can inform practitioners of necessary interventions that target pain and mental health to improve quality of life.
